Hop Poh Chinese Restaurant: Discover Authentic Flavors in Hamburg, PA

I absolutely love this place! The lady who takes my order is always there, and she is super nice. The food is always hot and fresh and delicious and the price is great. Today I bought a quart of pork fried lo mein, a quart of shrimp lo mein, a pint of pork fried rice, 2 pork egg rolls, 2 cheese steak egg rolls, and 2 bags of crispy noodles and it only came out to 30 dollars. That is enough food for a few days!!!and unlike another Chinese restaurant in Hamburg who I will not name, they have never told me they will be open for another hour and a half and be closed by the time I get there 15 minutes later. This is a great little place to get your Chinese food fix!!!

I grew up in the area but moved away due to the military. I always come home and fill up on Hoh Poh. Best Chinese I have found around the US in my opinion. Love their fried rice, LoMein and Crispy Chicken. Soooo good. Sweet family as well.

Stopped by when I decided to visit Hamburg. Was very curious because I saw a lot of people walk in and out. Seemed quite busy so the lady sounded curt but respectful. They had my food out pretty quickly for how busy it was. Boy was it a treat. Guess that's why they're basically the only Chinese joint in town, probably put the rest out of business. Highly recommend the general tso chicken. It is not too sickly sweet and sticky. Excellent balance of slightly sweet, salty, spicy and sour (get sesame chicken if you don't like spicy or orange if you want sweet). Even more recommended if you can sit down and eat it fresh like I did. It was still crispy which I have never had elsewhere! Also recommend trying the cheese steak roll. It's very gooey and cheesy and has sweet onions which I love in cheese steaks. The beef and broccoli was truly the best I've ever had. The beef was so tender I almost couldn't believe it. Also they absolutely stuff the boxes for take out. It almost spilled over when I opened them in my car. My total was less than 30 bucks and was able to feed 2 adults for 2 full meals.

The areas best Chinese takeout! The Food is typical American-style Chinese, and the General Tso's, Sesame, and Orange Chicken are always EXCELLENT. We eat their food about once every other month - usually trying one new thing. They ALWAYS get the order right, and I've never had to wait more than 3 minutes when coming to pick up a called-in order. If you walk in and order in person, EXPECT to wait while its cooked - because they cook it FRESH. This place is hands-down, better than the other two nearby. The eggrolls, dumplings, and everything else we've tried here over the last 14 years has been really fantastic. Never had bad food, ever.

UPDATE: they are still the best around! This is by far the best Chinese food in Hamburg. It's pick up or dine in. In 9 years they have not messed up any of my orders and have always provided quality food

Hey nah, I've been eating at this good food eating place, for quite a long time don't ya know. They serve up some pretty good fixen's at this family owned and operated business. If you be a picky eater, and need perfect food, well then, I guess maybe you better stay home and cook your own food. For me, every single time I get food here, it is always delicious, and hot. Almost everything is made fresh, and always fresh out of the wok. The meat they use is fresh, not frozen like many other eating places serve. Sometimes I stop here at least once a week, it depends on the season. Summer time is my grilling time of the year, ya know! So, the next time your belly starts growling, why don't you stop by this locally owned business, and eat yourself full.

As a hamburg local, I appreciate that we have this restaurant. 1. Fairly decent prices for your go-to chinese cravings. All dishes are well flavored & seasoned. 2. Wait is longer than you'd hope for 3. Staff is pleasant 4. Better General Tso/Orange/Sesame chicken around. 5. Best fried rice in the area. > Any restaurant can be hit or miss, but here is usually hit.

I love ordering here, as it’s convenient, reasonably-priced, and fairly quick. The food here is comparable to many other American-Chinese restaurants. There are absolutely delicious dishes, as well as some that I didn’t really enjoy after ordering a new dish. If you’re worried about taste, stick to your standard favorites and you can’t go wrong. The only odd thing is that they don’t use your name to identify you, just your order. So when I went to pick up the food my husband ordered, there was confusion as I didn’t know the contents of the order. Remember what you ordered for the best experience.
